The hell is happening?

So… I quit my job, bought a Penny Skateboard, took a look at my life and realised that I really really REALLY need to sort my shit out.

My blog needs a redesign, do I keep all the old content or not? I want to say yes and just not format it to fit nicely with whatever theme I design because the old content started from my first year at university. It’s like a timeline from when I started uni, finished uni, got a job and then quit the job.

I actually leave my job on the 6th May, so I’m kind of counting down the days while still trying to figure out what the fuck to do with all this digital shit I’ve accumulated.

I’ve got a brand I’m happy with now. My logo is a squiggle and it can be used in some awesome situations (like the mustard on a hotdawg – trust me, it’s cool).

The evening I quit my job I’m getting on the Eurostar with Charlotte and spending a few nights in Paris. That should be nice. After we’re back I’m gonna finish designing my website/blog/whateverelseIneedtofinish and then at the end of May we’re going to piss off to Malta for a few months.

Then we’re going to go to South East Asia for the rest of our lives until our money runs out. Might pick up a few jobs, will probably carry on doing some freelance digital doings. Whatever.

I also want to start making videos again – but I feel like I can’t until I sort out how everything is going to look. That’s stupid because the content will influence the design. But I want the designs to be done before I start making content. I’m digging a hole, pissing in it and diving head first into a shit stream. It doesn’t make sense.

I guess that’s why I blogged again, because this blog (as it currently stands) doesn’t even have a header! it’s just text on a page. Actually looks not bad, but you know, I’m never happy with anything for myself. Doing stuff for others is easy. Doing stuff for me is shit.

Also I’ve got too many categories.

I hate categories.

Hello world (again)!

Hello!

After having two separate blogs (marcusmichaels.co.uk/blog and modestinnovation.com/blog), I’ve decided to combine everything, all my new and old content into this blog, marcusmichaels.com/blog.

There is still much to be done as some of the images haven’t imported, and then I’ve got to go ahead and close down and redirect my other blogs to here. And I haven’t even thought about the design yet – this template (as I’m writing this post) is WordPress’ latest Twenty Thirteen theme, which is actually very nice and very responsive – so I may end up just editing this one.

Anyway, just thought I’d get this first post out of the way and also say that if you’re looking at my older posts and think ‘this isn’t the blog it says it is’ – that’s because it used to be that blog but is now this blog. Deal with it.

Scamping Content

Content by Marcus

I’ve been creating content again for the Samsung Mobile UK Facebook Page. Before I start working on either a content series or a single post, I’ll doodle the idea and send it to the client for sign-off. If they like it, BAM; it’s time to get to work.

It’s a good role, I love the creation, I love taking photos and I love combining everything in Photoshop to make it pop.

With the new range of Samsung Galaxy S4 devices being launched (Active, Mini and Zoom), I created a ‘living nature’ themed content series with each post highlighting the product’s main feature. I’m happy to say that they were very well received by our fans.

Take a look at the original concept scamps above the finished pieces.

Skeletor doing stuff

Vine is one of those platforms that I’ve tried and liked it, but never really found myself using it on a day to day basis. And then I met Skeletor.

Code Lab

Code Lab

Code Lab, formerly called Code Club, Coders Collective, Munch ‘n’ Crunch, etc… is something that I’ve wanted to set up for a while to get people coding and sharing ideas together in real life. There are things like this going on, but this is going to be for a smaller number of people and more regular. Pizza, beer, computers, coding / programming, sharing ideas, hanging out, chatting about whatever – it’ll be good.

Check out the Code Lab site that’ll show who’s attending the next session, when and where it’s happening and what grub will be for the picking.

Content content content.

CONTENT

The past month has been quiet on the blogging front. The reason being, is that I’ve been busy settling in to my new role and for the most part creating content for the Samsung Mobile UK Facebook page. Needless to say, with the release of the Galaxy S4 it’s been absolutely manic. But now it’s calming down,
